桜井雅浩

Masahiro Sakurai is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Kashiwazaki in Niigata Prefecture. Born in Kashiwazaki, he graduated from Waseda University and previously worked as a teacher and founded a private tutoring school. He served four terms as a Kashiwazaki City Council member before being elected mayor in 2016. Throughout his political career, he has been known for his stance in favor of the restart of the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa Nuclear Power Plant. He was re-elected for his second and third terms in 2020 and 2024, respectively.
