Masaru Uchino

Masaru Uchino is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Ebina City in Kanagawa Prefecture. Born in 1955, he graduated from Senshu University before beginning his career at the Ebina City Hall. He served four terms as a member of the Ebina City Council starting in 1983. After an unsuccessful bid for mayor in 1999, he was first elected as mayor in 2003 and has since been re-elected for six consecutive terms. During his tenure, he has focused on fiscal management, including implementing salary reductions for municipal officials to secure funding for COVID-19 countermeasures.
