Matthias Helferich

Matthias Helferich is a German politician serving as a member of the Bundestag since 2021. Born in Dortmund in 1988, he served in the Bundeswehr's guard unit before studying law at the University of Bonn. Politically, he is associated with the ethnic-nationalist wing of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. Although he initially sat as a factionless member following controversy over his public remarks, he was re-admitted to the AfD parliamentary group in 2025.
