Matthias Kusch is an American politician serving as a member of the Hawaii House of Representatives for the 1st district. A member of the Democratic Party, he was appointed to the seat by Governor Josh Green in 2024 to fill the vacancy left by the death of Mark Nakashima and was subsequently re-appointed following the 2024 election cycle. Prior to his legislative service, Kusch worked as a firefighter. He previously sought election to the Hawaii County Council in 2022 but was unsuccessful in that bid. He holds a degree from California State University, Chico.
