Mike Whitby, Baron Whitby, is a British politician and a life peer in the House of Lords. He served as the leader of Birmingham City Council from 2004 to 2012, where he championed a 'Progressive Partnership' coalition and oversaw major infrastructure projects, including the construction of the Library of Birmingham and the redevelopment of New Street Station. Before his political career, he worked in the cultural sector and as a lecturer in Business and Management Studies, later becoming a managing director in the engineering industry. He was created a life peer in 2013.
