Mwigulu Lameck Nchemba is a Tanzanian economist and politician who serves as the Prime Minister of Tanzania, having been appointed to the position by President Samia Suluhu Hassan in November 2025. A member of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party, he has represented the Iramba West constituency in the National Assembly since 2010. Prior to his appointment as Prime Minister, Nchemba held several high-level cabinet positions, including Minister of Finance and Planning, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, and Minister of Constitutional and Legal Affairs. Before entering elective politics, he worked as an economist at the Bank of Tanzania. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam and has served as an ex-officio member of the World Bank Board of Governors.
