Naveen Patnaik is an Indian politician who currently serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the Odisha Legislative Assembly. He previously served as the 14th Chief Minister of Odisha for 24 years, from 2000 to 2024, making him one of the longest-serving chief ministers in Indian history. A founding member of the Biju Janata Dal, Patnaik entered politics in 1997 following the death of his father, Biju Patnaik. Before his political career, he was a writer and socialite. His tenure as Chief Minister was noted for his focus on disaster management and regional development.
