Rebecca Kadaga

Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga is a Ugandan lawyer and politician currently serving as the First Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda and Minister for East African Community Affairs. A long-serving member of the Ugandan Parliament representing the Kamuli District Women's Constituency since 1989, she made history as the first woman to serve as Deputy Speaker and later as Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, holding the latter office from 2011 to 2021. Throughout her career, she has held various ministerial portfolios and has been a prominent, albeit sometimes controversial, figure in Ugandan politics, notably regarding her support for the Anti-Homosexuality Bill and her role in constitutional amendments.
