A member of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), she currently serves as the Chairperson of the Samagi Vanitha Balawegaya, the party's women's wing. Recognized for her legislative work and commitment to social justice, she was awarded Parliamentarian of the Year (Female) in 2022.
