Satoshi Matsui is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Hashima in Gifu Prefecture, a position he has held since 2012. After graduating from Chuo University, he spent his early career working for the Hashima City government, where he held various administrative roles including department director and education board secretary. Since his election as mayor, he has been re-elected four times. Matsui has implemented salary reductions for himself to support the city's fiscal health and has served as a visiting professor at Kwansei Gakuin University's Graduate School of Business and Strategy.
