Shoichi Mori is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Tateyama in Chiba Prefecture. Born in Tateyama, he graduated from Tohoku University with a degree in engineering. Before entering politics, he worked for Toshiba Ceramics and later operated a local tutoring school. He served three terms as a member of the Tateyama City Council starting in 2011. In 2022, he was elected as the Mayor of Tateyama, defeating the incumbent candidate by emphasizing the need for generational change in local leadership.
