Shigeto Nakahara is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Yoshikawa City in Saitama Prefecture. Born in Matsudo, Chiba, he graduated from the University of Tsukuba and later earned a master's degree in clinical psychology from Tokyo College of Welfare. Before his mayoral career, he served one term as a member of the Saitama Prefectural Assembly. Nakahara first assumed the office of Mayor of Yoshikawa in 2015 after winning his first election as an independent candidate. He is also an author who has published several books on social issues, including education and school non-attendance.
