Shinichi Nakatani is a Japanese politician currently serving as a member of the House of Representatives and as State Minister of Finance. A graduate of the National Defense Academy of Japan, he served in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force before entering politics as a secretary to lawmaker Masahisa Sato. First elected to the Diet in 2012, he has held several government positions, including State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry and State Minister of Cabinet Office. Politically, he supports constitutional amendment, the exercise of the right of collective self-defense, and the restart of nuclear power plants that meet new safety standards. He is also known for his involvement in various conservative parliamentary leagues, including the Japan Conference (Nippon Kaigi).
