Shinge Yoshida is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Honjo in Saitama Prefecture. Born in 1967, he is a Buddhist priest affiliated with the Chisan sect of Shingon Buddhism. After graduating from Waseda University and completing graduate studies at Taisho University, he was first elected to the Honjo City Council in 1995. He became the mayor of the former Honjo City in 2005 and has since been re-elected multiple times to lead the merged city. Throughout his tenure, Yoshida has been active in national municipal associations, focusing on education reform, the GIGA School program, and promoting international relations, particularly with Taiwan. He is known for his advocacy for the removal of utility poles and his involvement in various local government leadership initiatives.
