Sylvia Ortiz-Velez is an American politician and real estate broker serving as a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 8th district since 2021. Born and raised in Milwaukee, she previously served on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors from 2018 to 2022. Ortiz-Velez holds a B.A. in political science from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. In September 2025, she departed from the Assembly Democratic caucus following internal conflicts and allegations regarding threats made toward colleagues.
