Takashi Nishioka is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Usuki City in Oita Prefecture. Born in 1972 in Iyo-Mishima (now Shikokuchuo), Ehime Prefecture, he graduated from the Osaka University School of Science with a degree in mathematics in 1995. Before entering politics, he had a long career with the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, where he served as the Director of the Survey Division of the Health Insurance Bureau and also worked as a consulting fellow at the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI). He resigned from the ministry in 2024 and was elected as the Mayor of Usuki in the same year as an independent candidate. He assumed office in January 2025, focusing his administration on addressing issues such as population decline and the aging society.
