Takeshi Kandatsu is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Joso City in Ibaraki Prefecture, a position he has held since 2016. Born in the former Mitsukaido City (now part of Joso), he graduated from Jobu University and worked in the private sector at a housing manufacturer and an ironworks company before entering politics. He previously served three terms as a member of the Ibaraki Prefectural Assembly. As mayor, he has focused on local governance and disaster recovery, and in 2019, he was recognized with the Excellence Award at the 14th Manifesto Awards for his policy initiatives.
