Tomoaki Taguchi is a Japanese politician and businessman currently serving as the Mayor of Semboku, Akita Prefecture. Born in 1970 in the former Tazawako town, he previously held leadership roles in local business organizations, including the Akita Prefectural Federation of Societies of Commerce and Industry Youth League. Before entering politics, he served as the president of Taguchi Lumber Co., Ltd. First elected as mayor in 2021 and re-elected in 2025, Taguchi focuses on improving citizen happiness, enhancing COVID-19 countermeasures, promoting administrative reform through digital technology, and strengthening child-rearing support.
