Yuichi Higuchi is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Kofu, Yamanashi Prefecture. Born in Kofu, he began his career working for the Zenrosai insurance cooperative before entering politics. He served four terms as a member of the Yamanashi Prefectural Assembly, where he also held the position of Vice-Chairman. First elected as Mayor of Kofu in 2015, he has since been re-elected twice, focusing on the continuity and development of municipal policies. During his tenure, he has implemented measures such as salary reductions for special municipal officials to address local fiscal challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.
