Yoshiyuki Sakurai is a Japanese politician currently serving his fifth term as the Mayor of Kameyama in Mie Prefecture. Born in 1963, he graduated from Kansai University before beginning his political career as a member of the Kameyama City Council in 1991. He subsequently served four terms as a member of the Mie Prefectural Assembly from 1995 to 2007. First elected as mayor in 2009, he has since secured consecutive re-elections, including victories in 2013, 2017, 2021, and 2025, maintaining a long-standing tenure in local government.
