Yuki Baba is a Japanese politician currently serving as the Mayor of Fukushima City. Born in Koriyama and raised in Fukushima, he graduated from Keio University and previously worked at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank. He entered politics after being inspired by volunteer work related to the Great East Japan Earthquake recovery. Baba served two terms as a member of the House of Representatives, where he was notable for being the first member of the National Diet born in the Heisei era. In 2025, he resigned from his parliamentary seat to run as an independent in the Fukushima mayoral election, where he successfully defeated the incumbent. His policy interests include constitutional reform, gender equality, and reducing Japan's reliance on nuclear power.
