Yuzuru Demachi is a Japanese politician, author, and former journalist currently serving as the Mayor of Takaoka. Born in Takaoka, Toyama, he graduated from Waseda University and began his career at Jiji Press, later working as a news desk editor for TV Asahi. After an unsuccessful bid for mayor in 2021, he was elected to the Takaoka City Council later that year. In 2025, he successfully ran for mayor, defeating the incumbent candidate to assume the office. He is also a published author of several books focusing on business history and regional revitalization.
