José Manuel Franco is a Spanish politician and a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE). Born in 1957, he served as a long-time member of the Assembly of Madrid and held the position of Secretary-General of the PSOE in the Community of Madrid starting in 2017. A career civil servant in the Ministry of Defence, he has also served as the president of the Consejo Superior de Deportes. Franco is known for his close political alignment with Pedro Sánchez and his advocacy for a federal, plurinational state model for Spain.
